So, Dane and I met one of my best friends (Jennifer D.) and her new boyfriend for dinner at Hyde Park Bar and Grill last night. Dane and I almost never go out, I have to say. (It's generally too expensive for us.) But we splurged. HP&G tend to overdo the pepper on certain dishes, I'm afraid. I ordered the mashed potatoes with the fried chicken breast and couldn't eat it. Anyway, Jennifer ordered a mint julep, and it sounded good so I ordered one too. Sadly, it tasted like watered down bourbon. I now understand that isn't how a julep is supposed to taste. So, I'll probably give it another try some day--just not at HP&G. I suspect it was an off night. Regardless, we had a good time. Dane and I walked to the restaurant and then walked home. Since Jennifer insisted that you can't drink a mint julep without an atrocious southern accent, we had a grand old time being silly and speaking like Gone with the Wind rejects. I <3 Jennifer. I have the best time with her no matter what is going on. She's my art buddy. We go to posh art shows together that I'd never have the guts to attend on my own. It's really interesting watching the people in addition to seeing the fantastic art. Jennifer gets so excited about different pieces. It's fun being with someone who an actually buy a piece from time to time. I've seen so much that I'd have never seen without her. It's a whole different world.
