Is It June Already?

So, it's June and the Armadillocon Writer's Workshop is right around the corner. July is going to be crazy busy, I suspect. Armadillocon generally means a great deal of work, but I enjoy it for the most part and feel it's an important service to the Sci-fi/Fantasy writing community. The good news is we've a super-impressive list of instructors this year. Of course, we usually have a terrific instructors. However, this year is extra-special because two acquiring editors from two professional publishing houses* volunteered to teach. Also, there will be no Armadillocon workshop next year because there'll be no Armadillocon. You see, World Con 2013 will be in San Antonio. So, if you're considering attending the Writer's Workshop, you should probably get busy pulling your story entry together already. The deadline for submissions is June 18th.

This month (on Monday, the 25th) I'll be reading and signing at Murder by the Book in Houston. I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard amazing things about that shop.

July is going to be crazy busy with Armadillocon and a writer's retreat. So, June is going to be spent in preparation. I've a self-imposed deadline for the current manuscript (Cold Iron) too. Luckily, after all the chaos that was me sorting out the plot--all is well. I'm so happy with this version of the story. All is cruising along really well. Still, I wish I wrote faster, but that's hard for me when I'm building a new world from scratch.
