Stuff and Other Stuff

coffee time - evil eye
As much as I love conventions, coming home is just as fun. It probably seems strange, but I feel that being apart once in a while is a good thing for a long term relationship. It keeps things fresh, I think. Anyway, this weekend is going to be a blast. Dane got a big bonus check and so, we're finally joining the 21st century. We're getting one of those really big, flat TVs. He's a professional gamer, see. (He works in QA for a game company.) And console games are requiring bigger and bigger screens so you can see what the heck you're doing. I'm excited because I'm a bit of a film buff. I can't wait to see Bladerunner in HD. Seriously. Also? I'm really looking forward to movie nights with friends. Lots of pillows. Popcorn. Silly, I know. I think I'm going to have to spring for a subwoofer, though. (We've already got four great speakers.) Dane isn't as big into the sound end of things as I am.

With the new TV, maybe I'll get to put in some time on the new Star Wars MMO. I want to be able to play with my agent. There's something about that idea that makes me squee. (Okay. So, I'm a big geek.)

Speaking of, I just got back from Elizabeth Moon's reading at BookPeople. She's pretty great. I can't wait to get back into the Paksenarrion books. (I know, I know. I'm way far behind in my reading. And yes, I've just added two more books to the mountain. Like I do. Heh.) I play a paladin, see. I like paladins. That might come as a surprise to some of you who've read my books, but there you are. Alas, Dane is a much, much faster reader than I am. And well... I've already got something important to read. Ahem.

Happy Friday, y'all!

Happy Friday!

I'm not surprised--you've mentioned the Paladin thing before. And who doesn't love Paks? ;)

It's funny how much the size of the screen adds to the experience. I mean, a good movie is a good movie ... but it just keeps getting better as it gets bigger. ESPECIALLY movies like Blade Runner where there's just so much detail edge to edge. Congrats on the cool toy.

I can't wait! And you're right, it does add to the experience of a good film.

I have mixed feelings about big tvs because they do take up so much of the room, somehow. But the picture is good.
Would it surprise you to learn that I tend to specialise in high-dex, lightly armoured fighters?
